Test Drive: NOVEMBER
Welcome to
![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
- Threads can carry over into the game. The setting of this TDM will be adapted and continue into the official Intro Log after apps, so players who intend to app into the game can take advantage and use the TDM as a "pre-intro log" to get the "first arrival" scenarios out of the way. This means those participating in the TDM can have both "this the character's first day" scenes as well as scenes assuming the character has been in the game for a little bit; whichever works best. Just keep in mind that TDM threads may need to be tweaked to fit proper continuity once in game, but at least you can keep the CR and most of what happens.
Important: Although not explicit in the prompts, TDM participants can play it as if their character was dropped into the current setting: the deserts of Shaarnath (information on the city can be read here for those interested). Current players can just conveniently have their own character already nearby, or could have been informed of lost new arrivals and went out to help. - Date reminders. Reserves open October 25th and Applications (Canon | OC) open a week later on November 1st. Apps will only be open for four days! Because we're on a bi-monthly schedule, the next app cycle after this is January.
- Emotions are key! Empatheias's premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. While we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
- Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them to collect their emotions and serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic, but it works basically the same as most other network devices.
- First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. If you have a preference, be sure to specify. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples! Reminder: We only require one sample and it can be done in either format.
- For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!
• Prompt A: How about giving the emotions a try? Is your character feeling particularly wound up upon finding themselves in a new place? Or perhaps they're finally getting to live out the fantasy dream and are overjoyed! Or they just stubbed their toe and are in a lot of pain. Whatever it may be, this prompt is your catchall "let's try these emotion effects out" for any miscellaneous situation you may think up.
• Prompt B: Refer to the Task Board and choose a task your character may be interested in taking up. For this prompt, you could have your character ask for help, already be in the middle of the job, or react to it in some way. Perhaps they were an unfortunate victim or want to create a job countering an existing one. You could even have a prompt making a job request. Creating jobs for the purpose of the test drive is absolutely doable. (Note: this should be used under the assumption that the character has been in the game for a little while)
• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes...

• Prompt G: Make your own! It could include tumbleweeds and/or popcorn balls.
Eugene || Tangled
Nope! That’s just a stone. A pretty one, I must say. I’m sure it matches my eyes, so I don’t really mind keep this thing close to me. At least it doesn’t look dangerous and I have other things to worry about. Wait- What was that sound? Is this place dangerous?!
Woah- What kind of magic is this?! What's this?! That looks hella fun!
C.
Re: C.
What?! Who are you?! I don't really know where I am, but right now that's the last thing that worries me.
no subject
No no, sorry, just teasing. My name is Usagi Tsukino! What's yours?
no subject
Usagi Tsukino. Have I pronounced it well? Sorry if I didn't. ( He says that so fast that almost bites his tongue. ) I'm Eugene, Eugene Fitzherbert. And, while I may not consider myself lost, I think- I'm in a place I don't know at all. Does the spirit of the amulet know, by any casual, what is this place?
no subject
[Uuunfortunately for Eugene, her excitement has made her forget to answer his question, mostly because she's just excited for her fellow long-haired blonde.]
no subject
Rapunzel is here?! Really?! I mean, ( Clears his throat, trying to maintain composure ) how did you know? Are you a new friend of hers? Does she talk a lot about me?
( And now Eugene is the one to forget something; that he is probably in the middle of nowhere. )

( His expression softens, seeming even nostalgic. It's pretty obvious how much he misses Rapunzel. Although Eugene regains his characteristic smile quickly, there's like a black shadow-ish over him. Like a small cloud ready to drop the rain. He is sad, and as much as he wants to hide that is... pretty hard on a world where emotions plays a big role. He didn't realize that yet. Neither how the excitement he felt before was, in part, for trough the amulet. )
But she is just as lucky! If she talks so much about me, I bet she already told you everything I did. Well, I hope she didn't explain too much.
C
Hi, Eugene. Wondering where that Sunshine went? Well, wonder no more. He's getting a close up of Rapunzel's ecstatic expression with a reluctantly relieved Pascal at her shoulder.]
Eugene? Eugene! You're here?! Finally! Oh, I've missed you so much!
[...yeah, most of what he said probably went over her head in her excitement. But at least Verens is....mostly safe? He's probably fine.]
Re: C
( His expression remains one of surprise for a few seconds, trying to process the new information. Or the voice itself, as if couldn't believe it. Eugene holds the amulet closer to his chest, afraid that if he doesn't Rapunzel will just vanish. )
Is it really you, blondie? I've finally found you?!
( Wondering where she was? Of course! Worried? Just a bit. Maybe a little more than just a bit, but he knew that wherever she was, she was fine. After all, Rapunzel never needed someone to protect her. )
no subject
[Cue Pascal all but beaming in relief at seeing Eugene, perched on her shoulder and probably initially hidden with her hair. But really, it's been months and she has been missing him something awful. So of course Pascal is glad Eugene finally shows up. She all but lights up at seeing him, the air around her literally brightening and becoming lighter.]
If you tell, or show me where you are, I can come find you?
[And tackle him in a hug and smother him with kisses and generally not let go. At least for a bit in the initial reunion. Seeing and hearing him again, oh she's missed him.]
no subject
Eh? Right. I have no idea how to show you and it's hard to describe a desert. There's sand, sand, more sand... Oh! And a city behind me. Or I think it's a city what's behind this big wall.
( He looks around trying to find something better to tell her where he is, but everything looks the same. Maybe he could try going inside that city instead of sitting the middle of nowhere? )
Is it enough to know where I am?
no subject
[Which. She can do. It's just not quite as easy as rushing to the Welcome Center here in Verens like usual. But well. It's Eugene. She would never leave him there without coming to get him. Preferably with an added tackle hug because it's been months, at least on her end. Rapunzel herself might barely notice the sand, but doesn't say anything. Knowing that would probably freak him out to find out about the emotions here, at least before she sees him? ]
no subject
( At least he can talk with her again, know she is fine. As he stands up, keeping the amulet close, he looks around once again to try and fine the way to get in the city. Just when he is about to take a step, he stops abruptly. )
Wait- If I move you aren't going to vanish, right? If you don't, I can try to get to you. I will find my way, blondie!
( And while Eugene has way more questions, those aren't as important; there will be time for them and more, but first he needs to find her. See the 'real' Rapunzel. )
no subject
[There's so much she has to tell him. To ask? Maybe. But mostly she is just relieved to see him, and she can't help the chuckle and shake of her head at his question.]
I'm not going to vanish. I'll stay in touch until I get there, okay? You just focus on getting to the city. I'll meet you there.
no subject
Yeeeah... That sounds a better idea. But we both know I could have made it.
( Probably not, but can't push his ego aside even on moments like that. Eugene finally starts walking close to the wall, trying to find his way inside the city. It doesn't take long for him to finally find it; or he didn't appear far from it, or that city wasn't that big. )
See? Easy. I will look around while you get here.
no subject
[Rapunzel reassures him, just trying to keep him somewhat still where she knows she can get to to find him easily enough. And well, she knows all about his reputation and all, so she doesn't want to make him feel useless or helpless. That was why she asked him to get to the city and then he could explore for a bit while she made her way there.
Which thankfully doesn't take long, before she enters and is all but immediately glancing around expectantly for him.]
Eugene? I'm here.
[Cue Rapunzel using the amulet to give him a view of her surroundings. Hopefully he recognizes the area at least. That or she would for him and come find him, either way.]
no subject
However, it doesn't matter how detailed his plan is mentally because as soon as he hears Rapunzel is there and his eyes falls on her -after looking for her since he has been walking around-, his mind basically turns off while his body reacts alone. )
Rapunzel!
( Just the sight of her, the real Rapunzel and not something seen throught the amulet, makes his heart beat fast, so fast almost in a painful way. As he runs to her, the small shiny pebbles are back around him, just this time more and a little bigger, enough to see that those are small drops of water shinning because of the sun reflected on them. Still, Eugene doesn't notices them since his eyes are fixed on his princess.
Arms extended forward, reaching to her so as soon as he is close enough lifts her carefully from her waist, spinning around a couple times before place her back on the ground. )
no subject
[Months. On her end at least. Rapunzel literally gets the air around them brightening as she reaches him, her laughter bubbling to the surface as he spins her around. Literal bubbles appear amid the light from her giddiness at having him back for a moment, as she all but buries her face in his shirt when he spins her, before she pulls her head back slightly when he lowers her back down.]
I missed you so much! And now you're finally here! I can show you everything -- oh, I can introduce you to all my friends!
[She might already be all but buzzing with energy and anticipation on this.]
