Welcome to empatheias' test drive meme. This test drive is to help interested players test their characters in the game's environment. We've included a few prompts that incorporate specific elements of the game, though you'll find all of them have a lot of leeway for players to get as creative as necessary. Before diving in, here are a few things we'd like to remind everyone about the game in general:

• Date reminders. Reserves open August 25th and Applications (Canon | OC) open a week later on September 1st. Apps will only be open for four days!
  
  
• OC Reminder! Just a quick reminder that original characters are allowed. Those interested can also use the test drive. OCs do not need to be reserved.
  
  
• Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
  
  
• Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
  
  
• Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus, those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
  
  
• First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples! Reminder: We only require one sample and it can be done in either format. We have also made a change to our sample requirements, so look over the Applications page!
  
  
• Transfer to in-game. If accepted, you can assume threads made on the Test Drive happen in-game if the scenario can reasonably fit. For new characters, these threads do not count for activity check. However, these can be supplementary threads for players already in-game.
  
  Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!

  • Prompt A: How about giving the emotions a try?
  
  • Prompt B: Refer to the Task Board and choose a task your character may be interested in taking up. For this prompt, you could have your character ask for help, already be in the middle of the job, or react to it in some way. Perhaps they were an unfortunate victim or want to create a job countering an existing one. You could even have a prompt making a job request. Creating jobs for the purpose of the test drive is absolutely doable.
  
  • Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes...
  
  • Prompt D: Reality TV may not be a thing in Verens yet (for starters, they have no TV!), but a similar concept has been brought forward. The idea? A group of "survivors" are dropped off to a remote island, where they have to fend for themselves for two weeks, while their experiences are recorded on a special amulet. This isn't only for the sake of entertainment, but it will also prove to be valuable research about how certain environments and living conditions can affect emotions. The volunteers for this experiment get paid a hefty amount, too, and how often does someone get paid to spend two weeks at a tropical island? Don't forget your swimsuits!

  
  
  1. Survivor Empatheias: Of course, since the concept of this is that the volunteers are a group of survivors or castaways, nothing is given to them for free. That means shelter, food and fire itself isn't going to be provided by the people in charge. If anyone has any expertise in these things, they would be valuable to the group right now. As for food, it's mostly berries and coconuts that will be found on the island, and the only meat is fish. Did anyone bring fishing gear? If not, put those spears to good use! And if anyone isn't inclined to do any kind of work, well, the sun is out, so might as well relax and work on that tan.
     
  2. Become the Hunted: Oops! It looks like the castaways weren't the only inhabitants of this island, too. A bunch of demon boars have emerged from deep within the jungles, and they're out for blood! This was definitely not part of the show, but there's no choice but to fight back now. Some unlucky castaways may even find themselves kidnapped and locked in a cage, where they are awaiting to be cooked by these beasts. Pick those locks, or hope that someone comes to your rescue... either way, this is no longer a game!
     
  3. Stay Warm: One can fight against hunger or demon boars, but what about the climate? Perhaps it should only be fitting that the last few days of this experiment have been plagued by typhoons and thunderstorms. This is where the true test begins! Castaways are encouraged to talk about their happiest moments, and make sure the vibe stays positive, too, for emotions are known to affect the weather as well. A happy camp will bring the sun back! Otherwise? Sharing body heat might be the only way to get through the cold night. Good luck!
     

  
  
  
  • Prompt E: As the academic year draws near, the Verens Public Library is brushing off the summer dust and getting ready to promote learning to all of the island’s citizens! However, library funds are short, and so librarians are asking for volunteers to help them bolster Verens’s enthusiasm for literature! Among other things. Volunteers will be compensated for their efforts with...unlimited book checkouts for life! Never mind that’s the policy for everyone, all the time. Just take satisfaction in a job well done!

  
  
  1. Unfeesable: Part of the cause of the library’s lack of funds is that no one is paying their late fees, so volunteer librarians are being asked to go out as debt collectors and force offenders to cough up their dues through any means necessary. (The VPL doesn’t mess around.) Some debtors will easy hand over their fines, but others will require a bit more pursuit! Is it worth chasing someone down over 10 sylvs? Maybe not. But it might be fun to chase them anyway! Who knows where they might lead you...
     
  2. The Restricted Section: Reshelving books is an essential part of keeping any library functioning, though volunteers will be tasked with shelving a rather peculiar section of books that most of the librarians shy away from. This section features books all about the richest emotions, and even just touching one may have an effect on your behavior. Putting away a book about love? You may find yourself enamored with the next person you see. One about war? You just might declare a battle with your best friend. The effects range from moderate to severe, and in the worst cases, they do not fade until the “story” being told is complete. Better see this through to the end!
     
  3. Mime Time: Shushing Sally, a dearly departed former librarian who haunts the library, refuses to leave, but the current staff are growing tired of her constantly shushing them for even the slightest of peeps. So, they have enlisted you and a partner as the newest ghost hunters of Verens! Volunteers are welcome to try anything they can to expel Sally from the library, but the only way to truly bring her rest is by acting out the most cherished of childhood fairy tales. But there’s a catch: these stories must be acted out silently. Don’t let Sally hear a sound, and maybe she’ll consider leaving...
     

  
  
  
  • Prompt F: One of Ledwika's secretaries is still on pursuit for a more exciting and entertaining Empatheias that will garner visitors from all over the world. (Nevermind that there are already Otherworlders visiting…) Shaarnath is known for Dunamis and all, while Theasthai is known for its Performancy and Arts. Then, the idea hit him… Food! Verens will be known for its food, and as such, come various activities!

  
  
  1. The Ordertaker: People new and old are asked to help out in the Veren's Final Food Fantasy XVIII Project. One of the tasks in promoting Verens' food is delivering them! Those who have been put in teams of two or more are asked to put on costumes of their favourite food. If no costumes are found (how are you supposed to dress up as a banana split, anyway?), teams are asked to find clothing that represent how their favourite food would look like were they human. That's the easy part! The difficult part is sending out deliveries when there's two or more of you and you only have one bike. How's that going to work? (Figure it out!)
     
  2. Luck's on the Table: It's been government-mandated that restaurants have to make their menu a bit more exciting. In lieu of that, restaurants have now asked clients to pair up with a stranger just to eat their meals. What's more, they have to pay first before receiving their order, and hopefully, they have a ton of luck because the dishes served are random and range from 1-star to 5-star. If you get a 1-star dish, it's just a basic recipe like a scrambled egg or a pancake. However, if you get lucky and get a 5-star, you'll only have paid 150 sylvs for a Chicken Tikka Masala, Baked Dijon Salmon, or whatever it is that's gourmet!
     
  3. Chestfallen: Food does not come to the table in an instant! Ingredients have to be sought after, caught, hunted, and the like. There are some special ingredients in Verens that happen to be found in chests, though. Those who can fight are asked to travel to the forest and look for a giant treasure chest (about the size of a human being, really) with legs. It has very high defences and will run away after a minute of combat if it hasn't been defeated. Make sure you strategise to end up getting the special ingredients inside!

Hello there! This is my first time attempting anything like this. Maybe it's like how Meredy would use the Elara Phone? Being able to talk to people far away like that... Sorry, uh, my mind started to wander for a second! Let's see...

I have a question for the martial artists out there! What clothing do you wear that bests suits your fighting style? I've always fought in my regular clothes without too many problems but I was just wondering.

[As the message ends that happiness seems to fade as Farah is left to think on her question. That background sadness seems to make itself more known as her thoughts start to drift off and she loses focus.]

If I need to fight here then I need to do my best. I can't let being here mean I fall behind. Right? I can't.

Okay guys, let's get to it! Can we get someone started on putting together a shelter? I'll see what I can do about food and help out where I can, no problem!

[Farah is more than a little ecstatic about this whole survivor thing and is enthusiastically throwing herself into it all. While her strong point is certainly food she's digging into a little of everything. Gathering materials, fishing to the best of her ability... And once a fire is finally up and running she's skewering fish and rotating them around so they cook evenly.

To anyone who seems be taking things easy and are sitting back in the sun while everyone works... Well, you get two coconut shells filled with water dumped over you along with a cheery smile.]

Come on, if we all chip in I promise there will be time to relax later!

[Hunger? Conquered. Demon boars? Defeated. The weather? Well that remains to be seen. But Farah is certainly doing her part in trying to keep spirits high. She's passing out berries in coconut shell bowls around the shelter they've created while a thunderstorm begins quickly rolling in.

If you take one of the bowls from her? Congratulations, you have a new best friend. Farah all too eagerly smooths out her dress and sits down next to you with a smile.]

You know the last time I heard thunder this loud... I watched a man punch a giant ball of lightning Craymels. He looked a little like burned toast after that.

[Hunting for ingredients is nothing new to Farah, it was one of the best ways to get bear meat for burgers back home when no shop was in sight. Sadly, fighting treasure chests is nothing new to her either.

... It's enough to make her pause though as she spots the walking treasure chest ambling about a clearing in the forest. She cautiously motions for her partner to come and take a look.]

Uh, that... That isn't a Fake, right? I didn't think we would be fighting one of those out here.

[Were it anything else then she would be all over it but... No. Not this time.]

Oh dear... He must have been struck by a spark of inspiration.

Tch... [Elliot looks grouchy also the sky is blue as he walks around Verens, scanning his surroundings carefully. Occasionally a spark goes off above his head, almost like tiny fireworks. You may hear him muttering something such as:]

Why do people even keep animals if they can't keep track of them in the first place?

[Or maybe he's spotted one of the rabbits. In that case, he stares at it for a moment before calling out.]

[He charges directly at the bunny, seeming to have little regard for strategy, the fact that a kick from one of these can cause random emotions, or anyone and anything in his way. Sorry?]

[You've been approached by one [1] Elliot Nightray! You may have just answered a knock on the door, be at work, or spending time outside. Whatever the case, he's standing before you with his arms crossed. A black blade very visibly hangs in a sheath at his side, but it doesn't look like he's ready to use it. ...now...]

Hey. You need to pay your library fine.

[He's willing to use force if necessary. Also, hopefully you're the correct person.]


[E3 - "Holy Knight" counts, right?]

[Sorry you ended up with Elliot as your partner in this. He's not very happy about it, either. For the sake of the prompt, we'll pretend his world has our fairy tales for now. Feel free to pick whichever one will cause them the most grief! ...Except Humpty Dumpty, that's off-limits for this.

If you're not familiar with canon, you should probably be aware that, while being a nice guy at heart, Elliot goes from quiet to screaming at the drop of a hat. So, this likely will not be successful.]


[G - It has keys...]

[There's a publicly accessible piano somewhere, right? Well, there is now.

Elliot is seated at the bench with his fingers on the keys. He plays intermittently, and while the pieces are likely unfamiliar, it's clear he's pretty skilled when he keeps going for a bit.

You may not get the chance to hear that, however, because he also keeps stopping at what is clearly not the end of whatever he was playing. A dark frown crosses his face at these points, and when left to his own devices he spends quite a while in thought wearing the same expression. Shadows start growing oddly darker around him, and any light pouring over him dims. Eventually, with a determined gaze, he let's out a sigh and tries again.]

[Did someone say fire, food, and shelter? Because somehow, despite being on the island for only a few hours, this kid has managed to put together a makeshift shelter from palm fronds and has a fire going as he cuts up some kind of meat. Whatever else he has in the pot over the fire has been cooking long enough to smell pretty good, too. Yun works fast.

He's finished gutting it by the time he notices anyone, but when he does, he definitely doesn't seem like he was expecting company.]

What are you looking at?

[At least he's not waving the knife around, but he sure is sour-faced. Getting him to share might take some work...]

[Now, this is what heaven must be like. There's more books than he can count at a glance, and he's grinning like a kid in a candy store. He's grabbing books left and right, possibly right off the shelf you just placed it on (sorry)!

If you leave him be, he'll slowly put each book away after he reads a few pages, before any librarians catch him slacking. Speaking of which...]

but that doesn't mean she has to like it.

after all, she's put in her time! she's a hero! a champion! she's faced down EVIL and DEMONS and completely destroyed them all!

so find mimi, on this island, sitting on a log with her legs crossed, examining her nails, looking wholly unbothered by the entire business of being stuck here -- and if she sees you, she greets you with a bright smile, albeit something of a puzzled look in her eyes: ]

[ While this might not have been Uchiura, Empatheias definitely seems to look like a place that you could only see in fairy tales — or perhaps, one of those steampunk novels that she saw a lot in foreign literature. It was enough to cause her eyes to widen and glow. Not to mention that she couldn't hide her emotions to the point where she was sparkling... quite literally, in fact.

And that excitement is found rather easily as it seeps through the amulets, mixed in with quite a bit of wonder and curiosity as well. ]

They said that you could use telepathy through these crystals... this truly must be the future, zura!! [ There's a small excitable noise in awe as she speaks her usual verbal tic, the sound of sparkles audible through the crystal connection. ] Maru never thought that she would be able to find a world like this. It's like the worlds that you could see in fantasy books-- it's like a dream. But you can talk to other people through these, right?

[ And then she realizes that she messed up with the way she talked and slight panic seems to settle in. But it's not too strong and seems to be strangely calm in spite of herself. ]

Oops, it looks like I got a little too ahead of myself. I should probably introduce myself, shouldn't I? My name is Kunikida Hanamaru. I'm a part of a school idol group called Aqours and everyone else [ Why is she excluding herself? There seems to be a slight bit of self deprecation there, although it seems to be subtle even through the network. ] is really amazing and wonderful. Like Ruby-chan is really cute... and then there's Yoshiko-chan...

It's probably really surprising that a plain old girl like me would be a school idol, right? Ehe.

She has so much regrets because she's wandered around for who knows how long to find food or water and she's just. gonna fall on her butt, breathing rather heavily and uncaring if someone passes by her. ]

[ You have three guesses on who likes books a lot and the first two don't count. While most of the librarians might shy away from the restricted section, Hanamaru, on the other hand, isn't exactly the type to say 'no' to helping out-- especially because it is a library!

Of course, she gets unlucky enough to touch one of the books, by which you either get one of a few options: either she falls in love with you or it's a battle to the death!! Pick your poison. ]

A) Lake side thoughts
[ Glitch wandered to the lake by Verens. After being here for what could be about a week he had finally gotten over the initial "this is one huge hallucination" thing. Now it was just finally coming to terms with being in this world. He was in a world of strangers and already he didn't like it. Just more opportunities to run into the new bullies, people who would try to take advantage of him. It wasn't any different back in the domes, back in the days before the apocalypse why here?

Still, looking out at this serene lake? It makes those feelings of unease multiply into a bitter resentment. He sits by the shore with his knees to his chest, glaring out at the water. The one good thing about all of this was that he was outside, feeling nature and the wind on his face. Seeing actual trees. But, it served as sour reminder that his world was in shambles and the last of humanity stuck inside a giant dome. The more his mind dwells on it the more his glare intensifies. He doesn't even notice that radiating out from him is the withering of life. The grass and flowers wilting into something of a shrivelled mess.

Maybe it's a good idea to tell this kid to chill before he kills the fish next. ]

[ So the thing is, Glitch has learned he likes books. Like, a lot. And the idea of having unlimited access is very tempting. Sure, he didn't want to work with a bunch of strangers but if it meant he could get something out of it, why not?

So, he's on debt collecting and currently he is wildly chasing after a much older man who is fleeing from him.

Why? They owed the library some money and Glitch will be damned if this guy was going to stop him from getting access to books forever. Oh and it was bad for the library or something, he didn't quite care about that part.

So a small teenager is chasing a screaming man, all the while Glitch is yelling; ]

GET BACK HERE YOU, ASSHOLE! GIMME THAT MONEY OR I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL BREAK YOUR KNEECAPS!

[ Uh. NO. He isn't acting anything out thanks. Instead, he's literally sitting at a chair, hucking paper balls through the ghost librarian's form. With each throw he just says; ]

[ Yeah, he has no desire to put in any effort with this ghost banishment shit. He needs some motivation. Or heck maybe he needs a buddy to throw stuff at her. ]

[ A thief has made a ruckus at the Canal Market, and Saber is naturally drawn to the commotion. She has no issue apprehending the fleeing criminal, but in the process, one of the food stands is damaged and various produce has scattered everywhere.

Never fear, citizens! Saber knows what this local emotion magic is capable of, and she plans to use it to restore the damage. ]

By the power I wield as a heroic spirit, I shall remedy this. Behold. [ She clenches her fist at her chest. ] Fruit and… merchant stand, return as you were, before this robber and wretch disturbed you!

[ Several seconds pass, aaaaaand nothing happens. There is some sniggering among the onlookers, and Saber looks fairly crestfallen. Then more of the fruit starts rolling away on its own. Did she do it wrong? ]

[A Pokemon such as himself has never had any need for things. So it was strange to now have this "amulet" around his neck. Though he would expect to get used to it eventually. Also being a psychic type he hardly had need for its communication abilities, but even so, he decides to give it a try.

So a deep and elegant voice comes through. And the image that's associated with it is most certainly not human.]

This world, it is strange, and yet familiar at the same time. It reminds me of times long past in my own.

Sosyne will soon discover that she has a new roommate. That is, if she hasn't noticed already.

Despite being smaller in size, Lugia has decided to take up residence in Lake Niras. After all, living in the depths of water is what he's accustomed to. Now that he's moved in, it's time to do a bit of spring cleaning.

Thus, anyone near the lake might find random objects flying out from the water. Pieces of garbage, unidentifiable debris, and even sunken boats.

If you can dodge these things, and stick around long enough, the perpetrator will make itself known as a white head eventually sticks up out of the water. A jingling sound can be heard as he shakes his head a bit. An old rusted key ring, with several skeleton keys on it, being held in his beak.

He continues to shake them and make them jingle. The Pokemon clearly being fascinated by this new discovery.

To be honest, Ritsuka really doesn't have much by way of useful skills for this sort of thing. Sure, she's traveled all across France, and Rome, and an ocean, and... okay, you get the picture, but she'd always had a Servant or two (or several) along. And the funny thing about such powerful spirits given physical form, is that they made things like hunting seem downright trivial.

Still, surely she can do something like go gather fruits and berries, right? Like she's doing right now, crouched in front of a bush and staring intently at its bright, plump, juicy-looking berries.

"These ones don't look familiar at all either. I hope they're not poisonous..."

Ah, well, so much for that. At least she looks cute in a swimsuit?

It would be nice to say that she put up a valiant fight, or even tried her best to flee, but no, that was not how Ritsuka was captured. Rather, having worn herself out gathering firewood, she'd paused to take a short rest... and promptly fell fast asleep. Which was, of course, precisely how a demon boar had found and captured her.

... For that matter, she's apparently still asleep. Perhaps someone should wake her up and inform her of the imminent danger she's in?

[Strawberries were almost as good as cherries, so naturally, Ryuu had it pretty easy making the scent of strawberries appear. He only had a couple snakes on him, one around his shoulders and the other in his arms as he walked back to Tootelin's place, humming a lullaby that he hadn't really sung in years, the snakes were clearly having a time of their lives because they somehow looked utterly pleased as the pink-haired hummed and sang his way back, bobbing slightly to the tune.]

[ There's a ruckus being made in the kitchen, and you go to seek it out... only to find Joxaren, whiskers and all, in there. Wait... he's not supposed to be in there, it says staff only!

Which is, of course, why he's there in the first place. And when he heard that the government had demanded that restaurants had to make exciting food? Well, he's sure gonna try to make it as boring as possible. He's so angry there's smoke comming out of his ears.

Hence, he's currently trying to pour spice down the drain, and people are trying to hold him back. Which means he's yelling, because screw the government! The smallest anarchist is in town! ]

[ After causing trouble for enough restaurant staff, Joxaren has gone outside again. And what is he doing? Destroying signs that restrict things. No parking signs, don't walk on the grass signs, no trespassing signs...

He's got a hammer and he's not afraid to use it, even if it's gigantic in his tiny hands. He's a fully grown mumrik, they don't let the law get away with stupidity like rules. ]

[ Rabbits have sensitive ears, and Karashi particularly so. They have been sharpened by tanuki hatred, for sure. However that works.

Anyway, as a result, she heard the ruckus, and she was going to the kitchen either way because she explicitly told them that she's a herbivore, and yet she was given carnivorous food.

So she's pissed.

Mostly she is just curious now, while one of the cooks seem to wonder why one of the rabbits they were supposed to cook is seemingly still covered in fur and sitting on its hind legs, nose twitching, head tilted and a wooden ladle attached to her back with a chain. ]

[ The rabbit asks. She has a very cute voice. But most animals here does not speak, so the sudden cry of "The rabbit spoke!" managed to distract a lot of people inside the kitchen. ]

D-2 : Jailbreak

[Pretty much the only reason Therion came on this expedition was because of the hefty paycheck and someone insinuated they thought he wouldn't manage to survive the whole two weeks. Not one to back down from a challenge, he'd accepted - after all, he's been fending for himself for years just fine, thank you, and with a bunch of other suckers here to steal from mooch off of for whatever he can't manage, how hard could it really be?

Except of course there had to be demon boars here. Why wouldn't everything go horribly wrong?

Sigh.

Well, Therion is agile and stealthy enough that he escapes being captured, but it seems you weren't so lucky! If he'd turned up in Empatheias a few months earlier, he probably would've just left you, but recently he's been trying to be a bit less of a loner, and besides, all this is being recorded, isn't it? Maybe he'll get a bonus for being charitable...

Anyway, the point is, he waits until the demon boars are occupied with whatever it is demon boars do before dinner, and then he sneaks into their encampment. He slips past their sentries and skirts past the ones stoking the fires and makes it to the cages. Your cage is first, and he holds up a finger in front of his mouth in hopes that you'll be quiet before he pulls out a set of lock picks and gets to work. The end of his scarf flicks back and forth almost like a tail, twitching with wary impatience.]


F-1 - Apple-ying Oneself

[Dressing up as favorite food for delivery, huh? Weird, but the pay promises to be not abysmal, and it seems like a good way to get a better sense of the local layout (and scout for potential goods to get his sticky fingers on). So he goes off in search of an apple costume and winds up lucky. Therion really doesn't know why there were some fruit costumes stuffed in the back of one of the local shops, but he can't deny how handy it is to find exactly what he's looking for. Just ... don't ask him if he bought the costume or not because the answer is no, he didn't, and he'd rather the rightful owner not realize it's missing.

Anyway, the point is he turns up by the bike wearing an apple costume complete with stem-shaped hat. He's still wearing his purple scarf over it, though, which is a little weird but whatever. It's a purple worm or... something.

The problem is, he has never ridden a bike before - never even seen one before arriving here, and he gives the contraption a frown. The ragged bits on the end of his scarf curl into an almost question mark-like shape.]

So... what are we supposed to do with this?

[He's a quick learner so maybe just showing him would be the best way to introduce him to the wonderful world of bikes? Or you could try explaining. Or maybe you can be clueless together!]

F-2 - Apple of his eye

[Curiosity got the better of Therion, and now the white-haired thief is here, sitting across from you, waiting for a mystery dish. He seems more interested in watching the waiters come and go than paying attention to you at first, but soon enough the food's here, and a bowl of hearty stew is placed before him. Probably a three star dish - average and filling but not amazing.

Before you, however, is placed a delectable smelling pork chop with roast vegetables and sliced apples. Therion looks at his bowl and then at your dish, his eyes fixed on the apples for a lingering moment before he glances up.]

[There's a bit of hope there but not much; he doesn't expect to be lucky, but there's no harm in trying, right? To his side, the end of his scarf wags a little.]

G - Obligatory Bar Scene

[This world may be unlike his own, but if there's one thing bound to be universal, it's alcohol.

So soon enough, Therion can be found at any number of different bars in Verens, having an ale or whatever else is on tap and listening in to other people's conversations, sometimes even chatting people up to find out more about the state of life here - and any interesting rumors. He's particularly keen on hearing about treasures, but really any useful tidbit will do. Just... watch your wallet around him. He's very good at what he does - though not infallible.]

[This world... was really nice. Vaan couldn't deny it, even if he wasn't so sure about this place and his place in it. He knew no one knew why they were all taken here, but he still didn't really get it. He didn't get a lot of things

He walked through the marketplace, hands clasped behind his head. At least it was summer, the heat hardly bothered him. Although it was definitely a bit more humid than he was used to. This was a place Penelo would have liked. And apparently, she'd been here before. He saw her name on that wall. It was really weird. Vaan just wasn't sure how to feel, perhaps that's why several Galbana lilies sprung forth between the cobblestones and even among the merchants wares. Flowers among missing home and friends and loved ones. Several merchants sprang back in shock and with shouts of dismay, as they appeared even among food.

Vaan jumped as well from the sudden commotion, especially when a few figured out it was him, before he even knew it was him.]

Hey you, get these flowers out of here! C'mon, I have wares to sell!

Wh-Wha-? I didn't bring any flow-

Would you just hurry up? For crying - get a hold of yourself, kid.

[Vaan frowned, brows furrowing. Seriously? He wasn't doing this on purpose! Flowers began to wilt now with his rising annoyance and anger. Geez, no matter where he was, it was always like this, wasn't it? Tch, why couldn't his airship come with him?]

He actually wished he had a long range weapon instead, but he didn't exactly have the money to get one and stealing one was out of the question.

[ Clipboard in one hand and library fee wallet in the other, Angela confidently makes her way to all the various names on her list provided to her by the library. Each knock on a door is confident and loud, and she'll dutifully knock a second time if there's no answer to the first.

Still, she can't help letting her attention wander while in transit between door-knockings. She wants to learn as much about this place as she can. It's still all too strange to her. ]

[ She was nervous at first, but so far Angela hasn't run into any of these rumored books... Perhaps thanks to that luck, she lets her guard down after the first few shelves, and stops checking each one for emotional-sounding titles before picking it up.

Without looking, she grabs a rather old-looking book and automatically checks its spine for the author's name, and then looks back to the shelf to find the spot to put it. Ah, there it is...

...The moment the book is pushed all of the way in between its nearby brethren, Angela freezes.

She snaps her hand back from the shelf and clings it to her chest, eyes wide.

The air begins to darken around her just slightly, as if a fog where seeping in from the walls. ]

Well, surely it doesn't matter. Collecting Lux is really what matters in the long run, isn't it? Push back the darkness, prevent the Keyblade War for as long as possible. Invi reaches out, brushing her fingers against the board in curiousity, skimming along and flipping the fliers for anything that might catch her interest.

Most of what is here is not quite what Invi would picture nor expect of something on a task board. Though maybe it's just because she's expecting something more regimented, like something Ira might put up. Something less... aggressive, hopefully.

Then again, maybe not.

If you happen to be looking through the lists next to her, she'll have no problems picking up a conversation.]

Are these tasks normally like this? I never would have expected that someone requesting help could write something so aggressive sounding.

I've never conversed with telepathy before. I fear it might be some time before I'm decent enough at it.

[Without a Union to preside over, it makes things... Awkward. She feels antsy, like she's not doing nearly enough things, isn't directing people where she should, isn't keeping a fair eye on things that she should be. It's ridiculous. It's irritating.

She's a Keyblade Master. She's a Foreteller. She's the leader of the Anguis Union.

She's none of those things here. There's not even any Heartless to destroy, there's no Lux to collect, and no Keyblade War to forestall.]

The Book of Prophecies had nothing about something like this happening. [She says, speaking out loud to no one in particular as she paces back and forth in mild irritation, clearly caught up in her own thoughts and not quite paying attention.]

Surely this is nothing that could have been on the missing page? Unless... [Did the Master somehow predict this too? Is she meant to be here, in this place for some reason? Is there something only she can do to stop the Keyblade war from happening in this place?

Surely there's nothing amiss about a robed woman talking to herself about war and darkness.]

[ There's a sort of gravel to his voice. Velvet wrapped around broken glass, jagged but quiet. Chill, even. He's done a few "posts" like this and spread out his thoughts on more than one occasion -- accidental, mostly -- so he's known at least by voice by many by now. Someone said what he did was "shitpost" and he supposes it's probably true looking back on some of what he's said.

But whatever, this person was new and probably needed a friendly voice on the other end. His tone is pretty upbeat and pleasant, despite how his voice itself sounds. ]
