— TEST DRIVE: JULY —

Welcome to empatheias' test drive meme. This test drive is to help interested players test their characters in the game's environment. We've included a few prompts that incorporate specific elements of the game, though you'll find all of them have a lot of leeway for players to get as creative as necessary. Before diving in, here are a few things we'd like to remind everyone about the game in general:

• Date reminders. Reserves open June 24th and Applications (Canon | OC) open a week later on July 1st. Apps will only be open for four days!
  
  
• OC Reminder! Just a quick reminder that original characters are allowed. Those interested can also use the test drive. OCs do not need to be reserved.
  
  
• Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
  
  
• Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
  
  
• Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus, those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
  
  
• First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples! Reminder: We only require one sample and it can be done in either format. We have also made a change to our sample requirements, so look over the Applications page!
  
  
• Transfer to in-game. If accepted, you can assume threads made on the Test Drive happen in-game if the scenario can reasonably fit. For new characters, these threads do not count for activity check. However, these can be supplementary threads for players already in-game.
  
  Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!

  • Prompt A: How about giving the emotions a try?
  
  • Prompt B: Refer to the Task Board and choose a task your character may be interested in taking up. For this prompt, you could have your character ask for help, already be in the middle of the job, or react to it in some way. Perhaps they were an unfortunate victim or want to create a job countering an existing one. You could even have a prompt making a job request. Creating jobs for the purpose of the test drive is absolutely doable.
  
  • Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes...
  
  • Prompt D: With Eurus (summer) in full swing, some citizens have decided to combat the heat by staging a citywide water balloon war. Participants are given colored wristbands identifying them as part of the game, and everyone also gets a satchel full of water balloons to throw at each other. There are a number of stations set up throughout the city to get more balloons and some additional events set up in one of the parks in the city.
  

  1. U Mad?: Those wristbands are meant to show who's playing the game and to keep uninvolved people from getting hit with a balloon, but of course it happens. Maybe your aim was off or you just happened to be in the area when it happened, but now there's an angry drenched person yelling at everyone. Work together with your fellow participants to calm them down, but be careful not to get too worked up. Anger might heat the water, and since they're already angry, you don't want to push things further and make them steaming mad.
     
  2. All Ballooned Up: Or maybe you've decided not to go around throwing balloons at people and would prefer to help with one of the many resupplying stations set up throughout the game area. Which basically means handing out badges and filling lots of water balloons. Lots and lots of water balloons. Seriously, by the time today ends, you'll probably never want to see another balloon for the rest of your life. But while you're doing that, there's plenty of chances to converse with people playing the game. Or if you've decided to start a mini water war with the other people at your station, it's not like anyone's going to care about some of the balloons being used. Just leave some for everyone else, okay?
     
  3. Bomb's Away!: For those who want something a bit more challenging, in one of the city's parks, they've set up what appear to be mini catapults loaded with water balloons. Participants are paired off and given a really quick spiel about channeling their emotions and using them to deflect the balloons, but it's not in depth enough to really make sense, nor are the people running the catapults really expecting anyone to actually do it and are really just here for throwing tons of water balloons at people all at once. Do your best to try and figure out how to work with your partner to emotionally shield yourself before you end up bombarded by the water catapult.
     

  
  
  • Prompt E: The Verens Research and Technology Centre has published a well-meaning but condescending new initiative: educate the pirates of Briarlan in the ways of science, namely, research and development… despite the fact that they're almost more advanced than Verens. Helpfully, the pirates have decided to play along anyway, since they don't have any plundering to do for now. Any Otherworlder who would like to be a volunteer in the resulting studies will be well-compensated for their time and any trauma they may be on the receiving end of.
  

  1. Walk The Plank: The pirates are very eager to test the buoyancy of people of all shapes and sizes, especially when acted upon by the stress of societal upheaval and banishment from the collective. To put it simply, they want to know how fast it takes a person to walk the plank. The deep end of a pool will serve nicely for this. All anyone needs to do is walk to the end of the diving board—sorry, the plank—and step off the end into the water. The kicker? The water is infused with negative emotions and is likely to dredge up some painful memories. At least the pirates are amused.
     
  2. Medicinal Mayhem: The scientists are desperate for some order after their last adventure with pirates and are conducting something a little more restrained… is what would be the case were they not also desperately in need of a new patent before the end of the fiscal year. With some encouragement from the pirates, they are testing a new medicine to help combat the common cold and are generously compensating any and all guinea pigs. Side effects include temporary synesthesia, unstable hair and eye colours, the inability to speak in anything but rhyme, and believing that no one can see or hear you. Fortunately, these side effects only last an hour.
     
  3. Whodunnit: Thank you, helpful participants! To show their gratitude to all their volunteers, the Verens Research and Technology Centre’s pirate outreach division is hosting a fancy dinner party. Black tie only in theory, but no one is monitoring the door and no matter how many people attend, there always seems to be enough food and chairs to compensate. Turns out, it is actually a murder mystery party, so better pair up! A helpful character card will be included, and will feature something like: “Your names are Rune and Roz Redmond and you are in the import-export business.” Hopefully the next time the lights go out, no one else will have fake-died.
     

  
  
  • Prompt F: Duke Barry, one of the wealthiest heirs in Verens, has met the love of his life on a trip to Theasthai. The woman who has agreed to marry him is a popular stage actress, Speghan Sparkle, and thus the wedding has become the talk of the city. In fact, every single person in Verens is invited to Mr. Duke's large estate, and the wedding has a royal theme to go with it, too. Make sure to dress nice, for the whole world may be watching!
  

  1. Joyous Entry: Anybody who enters the large estate will immediately be heralded by a fanfare, and the announcer will give them a made-up title (Lord, Duchess, Lady, etc) followed by their real name. Then, they'll either announce something that they actually accomplished in life, or they will make it up if the visitor didn't provide anything about themselves in their RVSP card (example: "famous for wrestling with alligators!"). Though, in some cases, perhaps the truth will be less embarrassing than the lie... either way, whatever they are announced as, it's what they will be known as for the rest of the evening.
     
  2. Meat and Greet: Before our fake royalty ties the knot, why not take advantage of this ceremony and grab some free food? It's a perfect time to meet all the other guests as everyone enjoys various collections of wine, meat and desserts. Just remember to be polite! Anyone who starts a food fight or even so much as insults a fellow guest will spend a night in the dungeon. Yes, they can put you in there. Not a bad place to make friends either, however...
     
  3. Try Another Castle: A group of less-than-intelligent lizard men have crashed the party in an attempt to steal "Princess Sparkle" for themselves. For some reason they think that this is an actual royal wedding and that Miss Sparkle is an actual princess. They're not very smart creatures, but they come in large numbers and they must be stopped immediately! Did anybody bring weapons to this party? If not, try jumping on their heads... assuming one can jump that high! Save the princess, save the wedding!!
     

  
  
  • Prompt G: Make your own! It could include red hot chili peppers and/or peanut butter.

[ The free apples are perfect for the recently-arrived little chef who's trying to start his own restaurant in Verens. So far, he hasn't been able to do more than give out samples of his cooking, but he's hoping to start making sales soon, at least. Of course, he hasn't gone public as the cook behind what he's been giving away. As far as anyone knows, Remy is just the cute mascot of an anonymous chef.

Anyway, the apples are soon being stewed, or baked into pies, or used in a variety of other dishes. Remy's working away in a kitchen used for cooking classes in the Welcome Center, so involved in the tasks at hand that he hasn't even noticed the array of colors and lights, accompanied by a jazzy note here and there, that his emotions of pride and happiness cause whenever he taste-tests his work.

Gee, wouldn't this be just the worst time for someone to walk into the classroom? ]

[ By the time Remy has heard about the need for test subjects for this medicine, word of some of the side effects has also started to spread. Remy decides to go for it. Maybe his volunteering can help out the other rats in Verens; the native ones that can't speak to the humans. After all, he knows what that's like, back home. Besides, the only side effect Remy has heard about happens to be the synesthesia, and he already has that condition in connection to his sense of taste.

He did not expect his fur to be turning all colors of the rainbow for the upcoming hour. ]

Okay... This is just embarrassing.

[ As a little critter who doesn't feel quite rat or quite human, Remy isn't sure how he feels about the tiny black bow tie and fancy coat (with coattails, even!) that he found to wear to the event, but he's dressed up in them. When he's announced, well... It might be hard to see just who is being announced!

Still, the announcer doesn't seem to falter as he calls for attention to: "Marquis Remy, famous for his mastery of puppeteer work!"

That fond memory brings a small, slightly smug smile to the rat's face as he descends the stairs...

[ A little blue rat has been giving out free samples of food made by a mysterious cook for the past several days. He's the mascot of an upcoming restaurant, apparently, and today his boss has made: ]

Noodles in a Spicy Peanut Butter Sauce! You have to try it. The chef's signature spin on this dish is to simmer red hot chili peppers in the sauce, in addition to the more common use of chili flakes!

[ The rat, who any "regulars" may by now know as Remy, sounds extremely excited about this process... ]

[ Jughead has been by to eat samples every day they've been offered. It's pretty impressive, actually, like the dude has a sixth sense where food is involved. He's probably been something of a nuisance, as he always tries to get more food than is polite.

Look, it's not his fault the food is really, really good, okay? ]

Sounds delicious. Sign me up, my good rat!

Tatsuya Suou | Persona 2

   D-2: All Ballooned Up

[ Water... is not Tatsuya's element of choice.

Leaving aside that his preferred Persona (Apollo) was weak to the element, his tendency of wearing red motorcycle leather didn't lend itself very well to getting.... wet. But it's really, really hard to avoid a city-wide water balloon fight, so he'd opted to join in a less damp capacity. That is, filling up water balloons. It was a brilliant idea.... Or so he'd thought at the time, but two hours into it and he could barely focus on anything. Tatsuya lets his head hit the table he's sitting at with a thud. ]

Whyyyy did I think this was a good idea?

[ He's having a hard time remembering right now. Please come save Tatsuya from certain boredom. ]

   E-2: Medicinal Mayhem

[ Being a man... is helping people in need. It's something Tatsuya believes wholeheartedly. Maybe he should've thought twice about helping desperate scientists, though. ]

Whoa.

[ Tatsuya's blinking rapidly as he looks around the area, stumbling away from the testing zone. Was it just him, or were the colours brighter? Did they... smell different? The reds smell like fire, the greens like grass, the blues.... the blues smell nostalgic, somehow. ]

I don't think that cured any colds.

   F-2: Meat and Greet

[ Meat.

It's been a long, hard day but Tatsuya's still perfectly willing to check out this wedding. And the pre-ceremony. Okay, let's be honest... he's just here for the food. But in his defense, it's really good food! Not the desserts, Tatsuya's avoiding the table like it's poison. But he's stationed himself by a wide selection of meats, and is currently biting into a particularly rare piece of steak. When he notices someone staring at him, though, he moves to wave the portion on his fork, speaking with his mouth still partially full of rare beef. ]

Uh... Hi?

[It was like an action movie. Or what Eikichi thought was a cool action movie. Maybe Tatsuya hadn't look upwards as time seems to slow down. He jumps off from the wyvern he's flying on, holding a gigantic beast of a balloon filled to the brim with the coldest water.

He's not going to slam Tatsuya with it - Eikichi likes his friends with intact heads and necks; but as he's slamming down, the plan is to let it explode on the table's surface.

Which it does in a spectacular watery fashion.

[PROMPT D.] U MAD? (but in reverse)
[There was absolutely no way Hanzo Shimada was going to participate in something as foolish as a water balloon fight. And yet, in this ridiculous world here he finds himself, armbandless and in the middle of a ridiculous situation despite his best efforts not to be. For what it's worth, despite having found himself in the middle of everything, he's managed to stay dry.

But all good things come to an end at some point. As he turns the corner to duck into a shop to avoid yet another gaggle of players lobbing colored balloons at one another he's just in the wrong place at the wrong time. A green balloon whizzes in his direction, and despite his reflexes it makes contact with the back of his head, popping on impact and soaking his hair and the ribbon that holds it up in the short poofy ponytail he normally sports.

He grits his teeth, a snarl slipping past his lips as he about faces and fixes the person who threw the balloon with a dark, furious glare as the water already begins to evaporate thanks to the emotionally charged heat coming from his skin. Some of the remaining latex balloon bubbles then shrivels from the heat, steam literally rising from Hanzo's shoulders and soaked clothes.]

You fool! [He moves to take a step toward the subject of his ire, fists clenched]

[PROMPT F.] TRY ANOTHER CASTLE
[Being at a wedding you really have no right to be at is pretty awkward but hell, Hanzo's not going to turn down some food, and he's doing a good job of keeping a low profile. At least until the idiotic lizardmen show up. Not one to leave Stormbow behind as he's still growing more comfortable with Empatheias as a whole, he is one of the rare few attendees at the wedding who happens to be armed. When the lizards approach the "princess" He opens his bow and takes aim smoothly, shooting an arrow straight through the back of one of the monster's heads with little to no overall hesitation.

But, he's only one person and he's smart enough to know that he can't handle this on his own. His gaze scans the crowd quickly for someone else to help, and shouts in the direction of the nearest armed otherworlder.]

You! You have a weapon, make yourself useful! Take the left, and we can separate them from the ones who are unarmed.

[PROMPT B.] GT0604 - PIRATE BOOZE
[Finally. Something that isn't a ridiculous situation. It took getting off the main floating island and taking an airship to Briarlan, but here he is, the taskboard having filled the part of directions to a celebration with actual alcohol and no strings attached, or so it seems. Hanzo has chosen to keep largely to himself, off in a corner away from the more gregarious participants of the celebration. Despite himself, the hooting and hollering of the pirates and their general jubilation is infectious, a smirk having solidly settled on his features by this point.

In front of him was a tall glass of some clear alcoholic beverage. It wasn't sake, but it was close enough, and next to the glass was a low bowl of some variety of nuts or other snack food. He frowned at it, his interest minimal as he shoves it over towards the person sitting next to him (or, should someone be seated at the table behind him, he turns and places it on their table instead)]

Here, I have no interest in this. [It's yours now.]

[ Anabel has managed to skirt around getting hit for some time now, but it felt like every time it was closer and closer. She's not involved in this and simply looking to enjoy a warm, pleasant day. Perhaps luck was simply not on her side as of late?

Or, perhaps in some ways it was. Rather than nearly graze her, it seems to hit an unfortunate man who had only just entered the shop. Her first reaction is to cover her mouth so her gasp is less audible and the second is to offer comfort, but he seems to be pursuing the one who begun this already and with a strange amount of heat. Although not a member of any law enforcement here, she is still quick to intercept.

Slight and in an impeccable suit despite the heat, she has her hands raised before her. ]

Sir, please control your temper! I understand that it was an unaccetpable gesture, but it surely is not worth starting a fight!

[ Open for options, but also just running around in her pretty bathing suit with an entire bagful of water balloons. She also has a super soaker slung across her back, and having a grand old time. ]

Prompt E

[ Option 1: Someone probably promised her pizza to "test buouyancy" and plank walking. She didn't think it would be trouble, so she saunters along the diving board, still in her bathing suit, and after a lot of pirates yelling at her to get it over with, she drops into the water.

But when surfacing, she is thrashing around... uncharacteristically panicking. As though she forgot she can swim, forgot drowning (while unpleasant) is not going to actually kill her, and growing more hysterical.

Option 2: She's watching you with curiosity; she can't get sick, and medicine has no effect on her, so you're the one who got to take whatever it is those scientists are peddling. ]

Prompt F

[ C.C. always loves dressing up, so she is dolled up in a nice fancy dress with pretty shoes and earrings. And she can absolutely behave like a lady when she wants to, thank you very much.

Prompt 1: She put on her RSVP card: "Lady C.C., Precious Concubine of the 99th Emperor of Britannia". Have fun with that.

Prompt 2: Lots of food! And it's very tasty, but there isn't any pizza. And unfortunately, she didn't realize complaining about that would get her sent to the dungeon. Her pretty dress is going to get ruined, dammit. ]

[Plumeria happens to be very good at finding things, and of course she's not alone in her task--her loyal Pokemon are along for the hunt of a...a...]

Tss... [Only, there's a hitch. And she really doesn't want to have to have a hitch so soon, that sounds like a precursor to failure. Failure isn't something she takes so well, even if it feels like it happens to her constantly.] Salazzle, hang back, I have to clear something up.

[Meaning, she's leaving her weird lizard behind for the moment to approach someone. Her demeanor is nonchalant though the sight of a young woman wearing a bandanna might be slightly threatening, given that her hair appears to be dyed (who has two-toned hair naturally?!) and use of eye makeup.]

Excuse me. [Her tone is actually very polite when she flags someone down, though??? Level and all business, but polite nonetheless.] Can you tell me what a wolf is?

[She's never seen a wolf before.]

[Prompt C--Giving you a night call to tell you how I feel]

[The amulet that replaced the Team Skull pendant around her neck has been a point of contention since she arrived in this place, people can just hear her thoughts out of nowhere? No hiding anything? Gross. What is this, some kind of feelings share? Plumeria isn't interested in sharing her feelings or thoughts with anyone. Even one of her closest friends she doesn't quite call him so or feel the need to confide, he's the boss, the big numskull that she looks after.

Still, there's no harm in trying. She knows the old geezers would nag at her if they were around, say "it's not that bad! Just give it a try!"]

Do you ever find it hard to just talk about what you're feeling? I mean actually putting it into words. Something hits you out of nowhere and you think "what's that?" and--oh phooey--it's being happy or whatever. Am I making any sense?

[I don't think I'm making any sense. Plumeria, bless her soul, isn't used to expressing her thoughts when she thinks people can hear them.]

[Prompt G--And/Or Peanut Butter, the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album]

[It turns out, Plumeria's Muk likes peanut butter. She also likes peppers.

She especially likes eating discarded peanut butter jars. So much so that the technicolor monstrosity has wandered off, digging through garbage cans and eating its contents whole. On the upside, the environment is now thoroughly garbage free! On the downside, seeing something like a Muk is bound to be horrifying.]

Hey now. [And there's Muk's trainer, grocery bag in hand and Pokeball in the other.] That's enough, you're freaking people out. [What's the Pokeball for? It...shoots out a red light and makes the Muk vanish!! That sure happened!!!] Hmph.

[Feelings? Who needs 'em?

Or, at least that's what Guzma would say to anyone else, but this is Plumeria. Feelings were never really a Team Skull thing, at least not in the mushy sense. There was a lot of anger, that was freely expressed within the walls of Po Town. Anger is what fueled them, brought them together, and built the bond that kept them.

This is not about anger, this is about all the other emotions that the lot of them mashed down for something tougher. Something that didn't make them feel weak, even though they all were in their own way. No. This was deeper, and Guzma isn't even sure what to say, or suggest.

He could make a joke, dismiss that shit like always, or maybe he can try to be there for her. The fact this isn't just directed at him is telling enough...]

Yeah, you're makin' sense, Plums. Some people just ain't made for that shit.

[Like him. Like her. Like all of their ragtag little group. Leave the feelings for the well-adjusted people.]

[ While Minato's satchel is still full, somebody already made sure that he joins the fun by throwing a water balloon in his direction. Was it an accident or not? It doesn't matter really as without his hit/evasion rate up there's simply no way he would be able to dodge it.

Not that it's enough to upset him—he's just soaking wet now, it's not a big deal. Is there anything that would make him angry, anyway? ]

Is it my turn now or did I lose?

[ It would be a shame if the water balloons went to waste... ]

[ A cure for cold? Count Minato in, he'll gladly take anything that helps getting rid of it fast. And it doesn't look suspicious or anything. Not at all. The fact that they're so desperate is a huge red flag, but it doesn't bother him. Whatever happens, he can say it's for science or something. When asked about feedback, Minato gives a surprisingly prompt answer even though he's as deadpan as always. ]

[ Minato always considered his school uniform to be pretty nice, but this time around it might make him look like he's walked in here on accident. Which...well, it's the truth, actually. Hearing his own name makes the boy tilt his head. ]

How did you know?

[ And how is he supposed to feel about being announced as a "Lord Minato Arisato, famous for sleeping for two days straight once"? Where did they find out about that?!

But is he embarrassed? Absolutely not. ]

Next time I'm going to beat my personal record and try to sleep for three days.

[Without warning, there's going to be a water balloon sent sailing off in the direction of Minato's 'attacker'. Directly over the other boy's head, and with a decent amount of speed, making it obvious that Shinjiro wasn't really doing much to hold back his strength.

Partly because it was fun to let loose a little, but also to catch the other person off guard in case they had plans of throwing more.]

Oi, just throw 'em. You're gonna be a sitting duck if you just stand there and give them more openings.

[ After arriving in this place that was less than enjoyable, and being told by the people in the welcoming center who she found not as welcoming as they claimed to be, Nanami stormed down the street ripping up the pamphlet she was given. As if this piece of paper was important to her! She needed to find a way back home, a way back to Touga, not a way to get comfy in this stupid world!]

"This is a world of magic and we need your emotions to help it flourish" Blah blah blah. Don't they know that I have better places to be? Don't they know that big brother needs me??

[ They she stops in the middle of her anger storm and her face begins to pale. What if she was really gone forever? What if one of those terrible girls at school took her place at Touga's side? What if he didn't even miss her??! NO!

Nanami falls to the ground dramatically, a whirl wind of yellow rose petals start swirling around her. The more she thinks about it the stronger the wind gets. The ground below her started sinking from all of her negative emotions piling up in one area. ]

Wh-what...?? WHAT IS GOING ON?!

[ There was a loud clearing of a throat as Nanami made sure to grab the attention of others. ]
AHEM. I would like to speak to the person in charge of this place. I was given a temporary place to live that I am LESS THAN satisfied with. This must be a joke right? I hope you don't expect me to actually live here.

I demand to be moved up to a room much more suited for a woman of my caliber. I won't be patient. If my demands are not met, My big brother will be hearing about this, and not only that, but I will be writing you an incredibly bad review.

In the middle of this island's hot season, clouds spontaneously formed above him and began to drop white flakes down onto his shoulders and hair that are melting almost on contact. He may not have been designed to measure weather patterns, but he's absolutely certain that there's nothing that could make this fit with what he knows from back on Earth.

It only enforces his general confusion further, and the circular LED on his temple flickers yellow as he stares upward, an uncomfortable sensation arising in his software. He has no frame of reference to deal with this world, or how to get back to where he's supposed to be, or to do what everyone insists they're there to do—feel things. The snow falls more heavily and red particles like pixels flicker at the corners of his vision, almost as if he were faced with internal errors—but no, he realizes as he looks at them that those lights exist outside of his processing, available for everyone else to see.

Realization comes to him as he lets out a single, shaky word:]

[Connor isn't entirely sure how he managed to get roped into this; someone probably grabbed his arm and told him he looked like he needed to lighten up and cool off from the summer heat before dragging him towards the park to be used as catapult target practice.

Although whoever happens to be with him now probably heard him attemtping to reason with the dragger, that he is a machine that neither feels heat nor emotions he can deflect with—it was clearly futile, as he ends up standing on top of a painted X on the grass with someone else. After watching the person hurry off, he turns to his new companion a little helplessly. If he were programmed to shrug or sigh, he would be doing it now.]

[Weddings. A custom Connor has absolutely no reason to know anything about aside from the very basics, and as a result is completely missing from his databanks. But he was invited, and in the absence of much else to do... well, he goes. And he RSVPed as well, of course. He should follow the rules for these things if he's going to participate, even if it seems strange to ask for his life achievements.

... he probably stands out, what with the clearly glowing parts on his jacket, but it seemed to him that his normal attire was already fairly formal—the only difference is that he's wearing a bowtie instead of his usual black and silver tie.

He's announced as The Great Deviant-Hunting, Dog-Petting Detective, Viscount Connor much to his confusion, and his mouth is partly open as he tilts his head and tries to make sense of the declaration and the... noble title? In the meantime, they slap a nametag over the serial number on his right lapel, marking him with that entire epithet. The announcer moves on to the next before he can get around to asking about it, so he's left to wander around the reception with that mystery unsolved.

It's easy to spot him standing around examining the surroundings while standing nearly stock still with perfect posture, blue lines flickering in the air around him, though he may occasionally step towards someone to try to engage in... small talk?]

Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. I haven't been to a wedding before. Have you?

What’s probably worse is the lack of apologizing when they do hit someone not part of it. At most, there is laughter. But then there is also a sheepish kind of grin as they rub the back of their head and wave. ]

[ He had thought finding a "wolf with human legs" would be easy, like finding a lost dog. You just stroll around at a leisurely pace and eventually there it is, smelling the eighth fire-hydrant in a row. The actual catching of said wolf would probably take a little effort, but even then he thought some cartoon-esque trap involving a cardboard box and food would work as well as anything.

Apparently, said human-legged wolf didn't get the memo on "being easy to catch." Which leaves Jughead in a pickle. He's not an ambitious guy. He would rather laze around eating food than actually put effort into...well, most things. But he also needs money to help feed his literally bottomless stomach.

Which is why he very casually approaches the closest person, hands in his pockets. Time to get creative. ]

[ He's asking for a friend. ]

[ At the mention of compensation, Jughead jumps--literally, in this case--at the chance to be some weird pirate's guinea pig. Science experiments come at him, he's got this. It's not like he has anything to actually worry about, right? It's just some water. Testing buoyancy or not, the whole setup seems pretty silly.

Then he hits the water and relives one of the worst days of his life, the day Hot Dog got hit by a car. He had waited what seemed like an eternity at the vet, consumed with grief and worry. And even when the vet finally (finally) told him Hot Dog would be alright...it didn't help. Nothing did, not his friends trying to help or his dog's steady breathing...because all he could see in his mind was the moment of the accident playing over and over and--

He doesn't know how he gets out of the water, or how he gets so far from the pool of water, but the next thing he knows he's sitting as far away as possible, soaking wet, knees to his chest and fists at his side, glaring daggers at the stupid pirates and their stupid experiments. ]

They better give me extra for that.

[ Now this. This is something he can get behind. The sheer amount of food available is enough to bring a happy tear to his eye. He's glad no one heckled him for not dressing up, because boy howdy is he ready to watch this campy murder mystery while also stuffing his face. If everything else weren't so weird, he'd think he was in heaven.

But the more he tries, the more he ruminates on Elaine. And then the rains start pouring down over his head. Not at all the kind of magic he was going for.]

[Look, it's nothing personal but Ban's a thief by trade and a damned good one. So he wiggles himself an invitation to the big event. He's announced as 'Sir Ban, Bandit of the Fountain of Youth.' Irony being he didn't actually succeed in stealing that. After a fashion anyway.

Problem with the announcement is he's found himself surrounded by a gaggle of painfully curious guests who want all the thrilling details of he purported theft. They're crimping his style and making it impossible for him to actually boost anything of value.]

[ Every time Ban says "boring" Maki's frown grows a little more severe. She's standing next to him at the task board with her arms folded. Honestly she wouldn't mind some boring work, but she keeps that to herself. ]

Cloud didn't think it would be very fair were he to participate in the balloon fight itself. Given his skill level, he felt it better off for him to be the supplier instead. Besides, he wasn't exactly in the best shape. Upon returning home, he also returned in his original state. Bloodied and wounded and Sephiroth still nowhere to be seen. The scars on his arms had also returned, black veiny scars that had been healed once before.

He hadn't been fully healed but on his way home when he landed here. A week maybe over there but... He missed several months here. Cloud felt terrible but after a couple days with his bear of a dog not leaving his side, Cloud felt it necessary to at least try to move past the guilt and help with the fun.

So, here he was, more or less drenched with water as he filled balloon after balloon, occasionally pulling Fenrir's shaggy head out of buckets (gods why does he drool so much??) And occasionally chucking any water balloons back at anyone who threw any in his direction with a small, barely there grin.

He didn't even need his sword to clobber them in the face or grab their tails to threw them in some random direction.

G - aka Seriously Cloud, why are you like this?

Look, it sounded like a good idea at the time, peanut butter and red hot chili peppers? Talk about a fiery combination! So much so that his hair was on fire but nowhere near actually burning him or his precious blond hair. Huh, is this what Hades felt like? Cloud also continued to chomp on the sandwich, not at all caring about the sudden crowd he drew as spice seemed to not effect him. Well, technically it did but, details.

[ He isn't here as a Bodyguard or anything like that, he's still working the bakery alongside Snow White. No he'd been dropping off an order for the wedding and hung around in case they needed more refills when the lizard-men had blitzed in.

Arden's got a smile on his face because it's a brawl and this is still what he was made for; something he's good at. So he's going to enjoy this while he can, against people who deserve it. ]

Maki has always been good with kids – though it's more like they're drawn to her for some reason, like mosquitoes to exposed flesh, and she's gotten used to dealing with them by necessity. Basically it figures that she's become the favorite target of ankle-biters across the city, and it seems like wherever she goes she ends up getting ambushed.

She's allowed each of the kids to hit her with a few balloons, but it's getting old. By the time another otherworlder comes across Maki, she's ducking and dodging each throw and barely breaking stride. Unfortunately, this just so happens to put your character in the line of fire when the balloons miss and fly past her. Heads up! ]

[ Maki hasn't gotten around to trying all of the food that's caught her attention, and hell if she's going to let any lizard men stop her. She can be found weaving her way between tables, largely at ease in the bedlam while she picks out different hors d'oeuvres.

Eventually a lizard man does get in her way. It snarls at her, and she punches it square in the jaw. The force of the blow knocks it onto its back, and Maki shakes out her hand afterwards. ]

I'm not a princess.

[ When she turns to face your character, there's part of a deviled egg between her teeth. She lifts a finger to point behind them, where more lizard men are advancing, then speaks with her mouth full. ]

[Did someone request a beautiful voice for singing to lure away butterflies? You bet they did not! Mari unfortunately misread the part where the task asked for a bad singer. Excited about singing to some butterflies she signed up for the task and made her way to theater.

Stepping onto the stage she begins to sing out into the butterfly filled room.]

[It doesn't take long for her to get into the song, dancing around the stage with great enthusiasm while enthralled with the swarm of butterflies fluttering gently past her. As she continues to sing the number of insects only seem to multiply. A fact that Mari doesn't notice as she is swept up into idol mode, belting out the chorus of her solo.]

Howard blinks as he walks down the street, his eyes wide like a child in a toy shop. All around him, he sees things he doesn't recognize and a world he can't believe he was in. Having already visited the Welcome Center, he got the main idea of what had happened, but it was still a lot for him to process.

So many things come to his mind as he walks, not really paying attention to anything in particular. It's sensory overload for him at best, with a little bit of guilt and remorse built in. Of all the things he'd learned and heard, a part of him begins to wonder if he brought this on himself. He sighs and moves over to a small bench, taking a seat as he just kept staring out at nothing in particular.

It wouldn't surprise him that some higher being had yanked him and dropped him here. What had he done right in his life? Oh sure, he had inventions. He'd done things in the war and yes, he'd even helped to create the one and only Captain America. And then all hell had broke loose. The guilt inside of him from not being able to save Steve was overwhelming at times. The anger in Peggy's face when she'd punched him over Steve's blood had hurt. Mostly because he deserved it. There were some things he'd done that even Jarvis had hated him for and that was saying something. He knew it was bad when Jarvis was angry with him.

Around him, things began to crackle and lights began to flicker.

It's fine, she assures herself, though she still feels like she's breaking a rule when she walks up to someone, and speaks, voice a little timid and unsure, even if she feels like she's not either of those things.

"Excuse me, I need someone else to help me do this. Can you help?"

The problem with just being told that everyone uses telepathy through long distance communication is that it doesn't really explain... how to use it. Which is probably why Xion is having particular difficulties with it. Or rather, why she's doing the equivalent of yelling.

The water balloons are tempting to get involved with. It seems like something that normal people would get involved with. But she's not really normal, and that means it's not really any of her business to play like this. Especially when there's work she could be doing?

It doesn't stop her from getting beaned upside the head by a water balloon, though, and she squawks in surprise as she's suddenly soaked, looking around for the perpetrator.

It doesn't take particularly long after that for Xion to give in to the urge to fight back and join in the fun, ditching her self imposed responsibilities to lob water balloons at anyone that she sees is wearing the bracelet. Dangerously enough, Xion is a particularly good shot. And if there's a place high up nearby, it's very possible that anyone who crosses her sight will instantly come under watery siege.

Notably, she's also not particularly sneaky, given the fits of giggles after she lands a hit.

Of all the things he could be doing in this new world, Morty could be doing a lot. And yet he was happy to be here, playing with sand. Someone had wanted a sand castle and, to be honest, he enjoyed the ability to be creative. He had not been here very long, had not met many people, but being stuck in one place still was scaring him.

So, he found his outlet in the sand. His hands were slow, gentle as he used a plastic pail to build. When he wasn't using the pail, he used his hands to sculpt. He actually could be quite calm, when there weren't other people in his family freaking him out.

[ 21 intended to stay out of things. She's stronger than most people, some people were kind of (rightfully) spooked by her, and really, just watching other people enjoying themselves peacefully was enough for her right now.

Until some over-eager kid standing right in front of her nails some passerby right in the face with a water balloon. ... And points at her, yelling "She did it!". 21's peaceful smile turns to shock on a dime. ]

[ There's a pink lady with a long tail standing in front of the meat and dessert selection, picking up loads of food for herself and bringing it to her table. She eats all of rather quickly, then gets up for more with a blissfully happy smile on her face. 21 originally came to see what a wedding looked like, but the food was free and why not try all these new and amazing things?

Either this weirdo lady is a total glutton, not paying attention to how much she's actually eating, or both, but maybe she should be stopped before she cleans out the whole selection? ... Or before she ends up thrown in a dungeon. It's hard to tell which is more likely at the rate she's going. ]

”Hey ‘oh, hey all! Get your balloons here.. just a gumdrop per water drop!” Axel hollered with two hands gripping the sac of jiggly luggage drooped down in front of his tall body. He had securely monopolized the supply for this block with an entirely greedy motive in mind. He liked the candy and they liked the balloons. It was a win - win situation, and a steal were you to ask him! After all, these poor kids were tirelessly working themselves up in a bit of dodge-and-toss and couldn’t possibly be expected to carry their own ammo while leaping about with all the stamina of a heat-stricken cat scurrying away from their water-downed fate. He had pity them, he truly did. Thus, Axel was taking to the streets in his mobile pursuit to arm the forces with adequate latex water balls all in the name of the good cause. Which, for as far as he could truly understand it, was to feed him the candy.

Everything else was truly circumstantial. The heat wave made the air between the ground and your knees a wobbly sore sight of vapor hissing from the ray of light. The slap of feet which scurried across the ground beneath the ridiculous squeals of laughter and protest was but a kind reminder that even here people could be reduced to the most juvenile of behaviors. The whine of disappointment when a tossed balloon fails to pop once it hits the target and therefore bounces around the feet of your enemy who is now freshly equipped. These are a few of his noticed things.

Axel grinned and offered once again the call to arms with a fair price of one gumdrop to pay for the trade for the means of war. “Balloons for your candy, kids.. come one, come all!”

How did I get myself in this situation? Axel had posed the question yet again as he traced his feet down the hard, long, plank. He had to admit, however, the imagination of these Verens was just as impressive as the imagination of the stone-cold-glare of an iguana. Half of them looked to him as he inched further down the plank and the other half of them looked about as if they weren’t quite sure why it was they were exactly here. It reminded him of a time in his life where he truly thought swimming upstream was going to be a fun training exercise. He got swept away in the current and ended up swimming deeper down under––almost a little too close to the bottom of the sea he could have sworn he heard singing. Axel shook his head and made a discontent expression before he huffed and looked over his shoulder once again to make a last plea. “Listen, I got a better idea. Let’s not do this.” He wasn’t too keen on the idea of getting wet again. Especially at the hands of the Hook-dropout gang.

Best keep his dignity, he thought, and looked beyond the pirates for anyone out in the crowd who might have a notion to save the damsel in distress. Damsel being him. “All right, all right!” He snapped at the pirate gesturing him to move it on forward. “If I don’t come up right after I drop, someone better be ready to dive in after me.. and I don’t want any funny business!” He could not stress this enough. “Get your breath mints in now.. I’m not going to be revived by someone with sour milk for breath..”

With that he turned to face his rippling destiny and he moved forward with a swift stride of his long legs. “I’m coming for your Triton!!” Then a splash consumed the lithe body with brilliant red hair. Down and down he went. Like a rock he sunk to the bottom, despite his thin body, he sunk as if he was made of stone.

Axel’s eyes opened with a emerald shimmer of panic as he sought the responsible party of the voice. What? He found himself responding with a thought. His body then went into flight or fight and he started to kick, reach, and wiggle in the water with all the skill as a bird in a net. Swimming wasn’t a strong skill, hell, he’d proven that trying to swim upstream! The voice though, that sounded familiar and his heart palpitated with anticipation to find the source of the call. Yet, the more he searched with his head lulling about in stupor, the more he found his sight going darker. It was like the pool was turning from clear to black.

Are you really sorry?

Well, that’s ambiguous. Axel retorted quickly as he fought through the bubbles surrounding his body and looked for the surface which was quickly becoming darker by the clouded water. He didn’t have much time to think, he was trying to make sense of direction after all. This voice in his head talking about being sorry was just a distraction. He had to keep his eye on the prize. He wouldn’t be able to make it if he couldn’t. Although, with that thought, he couldn’t help but be reminded of the sometimes stifling feeling of the Organization crowding around him. Sometimes he felt as if he could hardly move. Like now.

Axel was sure to be dressed for the occasion, after all, it’s not like he’s invited to weddings often. Especially weddings involving royalty! They were royalty, right? Axel rolled his eyes and huffed, details like that didn’t matter! What mattered was he was going to make a fabulous entrance, he was going to dance, he was going to eat (oh, was he going to eat), and when all was said and done, he was going to snoop the crap out of this place. He was going to bust into all the rooms, he was going to jump on all the beds, he was going to investigate all the closets (wait, is Namine in there?)! It was going to be glorious, world breaking really.

Well, in any case, he certainly was going to be the best looking one here. Sorry, Speghan Sparkle Farkle, he’s going to upstage your bride dress. How embarrassing!

Axel wore an impressive flame designed tuxedo with a pair of black boots. His hair was slick back in its usual flare of flames and his emerald eyes were looking sharp as he stepped onto the carpet. Fire walk with me, because Axel was bringing back the flame and everyone tonight was going to want a little more heat to their step after seeing him.

“Lord of Flames himself!” The introduction was booming through the room as he stepped through the threshold to be introduced. “Axel! Who we all know for being the friendly neighborhood fireman!” Axel winked at the anouncer and gave a few nods to the crowd and waved at some of the waiters (more to stop them from getting too far before he got off the platform).

Once on the floor he began his intricate dance of mingling while chasing the ones who held silver platters full of drinks and party tasters.

[He's not the strongest swimmer, but he's better than he was. Granted, most of his training has been through lengths in the pool with Rin, and the open water still scares him somewhat. But Roxas had moved without thinking when he'd seen who was on the plank. Or at least, thought he'd seen but he'd also recognize that hair anywhere.

It's funny how laser focused one can get in extreme situations. It's enough that Roxas can create a passable dunamis shield around him, to at least be able to look around a little better. Fear's a good motivator it seems, repelling the water away from him.

Given their height differences and Roxas's lack of rescue training, it is an incredibly awkward effort but he manages to half pull, half shove Axel towards the surface. Coughing and spluttering he looks for something to grab onto, eventually finding a piece of driftwood. to at least get them to shore. If this was going to be a thing, he was going to need to talk to Rin.]

[Krolia may have been here for the better part of a week, but somehow, her general sense of fury hasn't faded. How could it? The last few things she remembers are leaving the beautiful little family that she loves more than she even knew she was capable of loving, for the sole reason of getting back to the Blade and protecting them, doing whatever she could do keep the Galra Empire's eyes far away from planet Earth. She'd already been dealing with her grief over that, soothed only by the thought that she'd be keeping them safe, in the only way she knew how. And instead she wound up here.

Far away from everything, and if she isn't fighting the Empire then she never would have left in the first place.

So her hate is in full swing. Even in public as she makes her way through the town. And hey, that's apparently one half of the alignment she's been assigned. What luck. Maybe that's why there seems to be an aura roiling about her, deep and dangerous reds, visible now and then (though she hasn't noticed it yet) swirling about like an unstable nebula, casting faint actual heat -- and hopefully not actual cosmic radiation.
