— TEST DRIVE: MAY —

Welcome to empatheias' test drive meme. This test drive is to help interested players test their characters in the game's environment. We've included a few prompts that incorporate specific elements of the game, though you'll find all of them have a lot of leeway for players to get as creative as necessary. Before diving in, here are a few things we'd like to remind everyone about the game in general:

• Date reminders. Reserves open 24th of April and Applications (Canon | OC) open a week later on May 1st. Apps will only be open for four days!
  
  
• OC Reminder! Just a quick reminder that original characters are allowed. Those interested can also use the test drive. OCs do not need to be reserved.
  
  
• Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
  
  
• Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
  
  
• Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus, those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
  
  
• First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples! Reminder: We only require one sample and it can be done in either format. We have also made a change to our sample requirements, so look over the Applications page!
  
  
• Transfer to in-game. If accepted, you can assume threads made on the Test Drive happen in-game if the scenario can reasonably fit. For new characters, these threads do not count for activity check. However, these can be supplementary threads for players already in-game.
  
  
• For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!
  
  
• For any concerns or questions, head over to this top level.
  
  
  Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!

PROMPTS

• PROMPT A: How about giving the emotions a try?

• PROMPT B: Refer to the Task Board and choose a task your character may be interested in taking up. For this prompt, you could have your character ask for help, already be in the middle of the job, or react to it in some way. Perhaps they were an unfortunate victim or want to create a job countering an existing one. You could even have a prompt making a job request. Creating jobs for the purpose of the test drive is absolutely doable.

• PROMPT C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes...

• PROMPT D: Perhaps one may have heard that Verens used to be a floating island, and it was! When the island then ended up on the surface, creatures which explorers have called "Dinosaurs" (quotation marks included) were discovered inhabiting the plains and the mountains in a far off area. It's time to go back to the jurassic world for a very important mission: gather as many Amaranthus Rubus, red pearl-shaped fruits that heal any and all wounds on one's skin. The hospital needs it! As such, one needs to prepare.

Explorers do not wish to harm the "Dinosaurs", as they are afraid the "Dinosaurs" would go extinct should any danger be placed unto them. This means that one's option when encountering volatile and aggressive "Dinosaurs" is to run away. A fun run is now being held in Verens a few days prior to the trip to the "Dinosaur" plains, where 50 sylvs and a t-shirt that says "I successfully ran away from a 'Dinosaur'!". The colour of the shirt is random, though, but there are as many as the colours of the rainbow. Maybe trade with somebody else who's finished the run if you don't like yellow so much.


• PROMPT E: Once the preparations have been made, it's time to set forth into the land of the “Dinosaurs”. As you enter their domain, it may be difficult to resist the temptation to interact with these rare and unusual creatures, and some of the “dinosaurs” are indeed tranquil and herbivorous. Go ahead and feed the long-necks leafy branches and if you're feeling daring, climb up on their backs for a ride! However, many of the “dinosaurs” are quite a bit more dangerous, and they are very territorial. If you cross paths with the a pack of raptors, prepare to run, fight, or distract. All explorers have been supplied with strips of alluring jerky to placate the beasts. Who knows, you might even make a friend! Be careful not to lose and hand, though.

The Amaranthus Rubus is thickest near the home of the most terrifying “dinosaur” of all, the "Tyrannosaur", and if you are daring enough to approach the lair of this creature to reap the fruits, you may not even have the chance to run away before the creature corners you, roars, and...wiggles his sad, little arms. It seems poor old "Tyrannosaur" just wants some kind of tool to extend his reach! Help him out and he will let you go. Or refuse, and he'll eat you. Sounds reasonable, right?


• PROMPT F: It seems like the land of the "Dinosaurs" isn't so bad after all! Perhaps "Dinosaurs" and man can co-exist, but for that to happen, much research will have to be made regarding a "Dinosaur"'s way of life. Now aboard the ship to head back to the city, researchers are talking about another excursion in the future that's solely for researching on "Dinosaurs" - various species, what they eat, their excrement, and the like.

The trip back to Verens is a little long. Perhaps you're just resting in one of the rooms when there's an explosive sound that can be heard. Oh no! It looks like the engine's running out of steam! Luckily, there's a steam generator in the ship, but steam can only be made through cooperation, anger, and sadness. The entire ship needs your help to get back to the city safely, and if you have to hold someone's hand, slap them, and yell at them to get them to manifest their emotions tangibly, then do so!


• Prompt G: Make your own! It could include swords and/or stones.

Prompt A.- Emotions

[Littering- Only villains of the most fiendish sort would take joy in desecrating such beautiful and rather exotic lands! Or perhaps a small child, but leave it to Tenya Iida to nip a potential villainous habit from forming.

Unfortunately for the child, he was on the receiving end of a full-blown Tenya Iida rant, complete with wide sweeping hand gestures and being quite literally boxed in by an invisible square .

Would someone please come to save the poor kid before one poorly aimed swipe cause some serious damage?]

Prompt B. - Task Board.

[When someone usually sets out to mail out a letter, there is often a certain thought that is echoed in both the mailer and the mailer's mind: 'How long will it be?' Luckily for those that live in Verens- One of their newest citizens just so happen to excel with Speed .

Tenya Iida- The Next Turbo Hero Ingenium, and those pipes in his calves? They are not just for show.

Please do not be afraid to ask the guy to help deliver your next package, please rest assured- your next delivery would reach their intended destination with the utmost care and short delivery time.]

Prompt C. - Telepathic Conversation

[Be Loud. Be Concise. Gather Attention. State your Purpose. Those are all important factors for delivering a message- especially when it is through unusual methods, and while holding tightly to his amulet Tenya hoped to project his introduction rather well.]

GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS! MY NAME IS TENYA IIDA AND I AM A STUDENT CURRENTLY ATTENDING U.A.! I AM WORKING TOWARDS BEING A PRO-HERO AND AS SUCH I HOPE TO CONTINUE MY EDUCATION AND STRIVE TOWARDS MY GOAL DURING MY STAY HERE! [Yes! That is a perfectly clear and well-worded message, and hopefully, one that was not too verbose. He does have a habit of talking just a tad bit too much...]

IIDA!! Is that really you? Hey!!!!! [her response is cheerful, punchy, and filters through the crystal akin to sunshine.]

Where are you?! If you're nearby maybe I can meet up with you and show you around or something?? There's a few of us here too, so we're not alone either!

Uraraka! I most certainly hope that I am the only one going about introducing themselves as Tenya Iida. It would most certainly cause quite a bit of confusion if there was more then one, not to mention how dangerous it could be if the other Tenya Iida was less then civil!

[All throughout Iida's answer there was a low purr of a car engine, at times growing a bit louder especially when Tenya was getting worked up.]

I am currently at The Welcome Center, it seemed like the most logical place to be!

Oh!! I'm not too far from there! Hang on and I'll meet up with you okay? I know a really great place with smoothies and sandwiches if you're hungry! We can eat while I fill you in on anything you have questions about okay?

[She almost laughs at the engine sound. That's so... fitting.]

And don't worry, there's no one else named Iida here, promise! I guess I was just a little surprised that you were here for real. It's always a surprise when someone else shows up!

[ Nope, this will not stand. He had caught sight of the kid throwing trash on the ground but what really caught his attention was the big, lumbering hulk now harassing them.

NOPE. This will not do.

He's already stomping over and steps inbetween the taller boy and the kid and goes for a shove. Glitch may be a small bean in comparison but when he's annoyed he's strong. ]

Hey, back off, asshole. They're just a kid. Go harass someone else.

[Talk about terrible first impersonations, so far Tenya is rocking the 0-2 ratio! First, it was with Midoriya and now this guy? Really... Tenya was been very large and imposing and a bit lecture prone but deep down- he is a sweet law abiding teddy bear.]


H-Harass?!?

[There was a rather loud sound of glass audibly breaking, and with the little child scrambling away- it was pretty clear what just broke.]

I was not harassing anyone! I was just trying to teach this child just how important it is to properly dispose of one's trash! Casually throwing waste about is not only disrespectful for those that put blood, sweat, and tears into creating nice smooth pavements but litter could be potentially dangerous for the animals that take residence here!

[As a small child with no proper guardian, she did not actually understand what littering was. Like she got it was better for trash to be in the garbage can so trash wasn't literally everywhere, but there was no garbage can and she couldn't do much with orange peels so she had just dropped them as she walked.]

[And now she's in a box.]

[Debating the merits of just phasing through the ground to get out, but if she's honest.]

[The guy is kind of hilarious.]

[She's hardly worried, a hand over her mouth as she watches him, trying to not burst out laughing.]

[LAUGH ALL YOU WANT, YOU VILLIANOUS CUR! WE WILL SEE WHO GETS THE REAL LAST LAUGH! AND JUST IN CASE YOU ARE WONDERING? THAT WOULD BE HIM... WITH PLENTY OF FRESH OXYGEN BECAUSE HE KNOWS BETTER THEN TO JUST TOSS ORANGE GRINDS AWAY. HE PUTS THEM IN A COMPOST BIN, LIKE ANY GOOD HERO WOULD!]

[Perhaps it was sort of a blessing that from inside the box, Tenya was rendered mute. It would at least provide her with full access to make up her own script to what he was actually saying as he paced to and fro in front of her, his hands gestures getting more wild as he went.]

[Normally Tomoe would leave people to their own devices, but she had a soft spot for children, even if they didn't share the same sentiment for her. So seeing the younger child being berated by a young man who... didn't seem to realize what his emotions were doing to the area. She wasn't one to judge of course, considering on her arrival she very nearly impaled another person on a wall of ice spikes before she knew what was happening.]

[She crossed the distance fairly quickly for a woman in a kimono and stepped between the two with a raised hand--because stepping between fighters (not that the child could really be considered a 'fighter') had turned out just so well for her in the past--before the older boy crushed the child with his strange box.]

Stop.

[She stared up at him dark eyes, her face primarily expressionless.]

Pay attention to how your emotions are manifesting.

[The very first lesson that Tenya was ever taught was to respect your elders, and that lesson went hand to hand with the drilled in lesson to never raise your hand against a female- much less one that was unarmed and pleading.]

E-Excuse me, Madam?

[And just like that Tenya was pulled from mid-rant and the little child was able to flee when his defense was lowered.]

Aizawa-Sensei! I am glad to see that both you and All Might are here. I can rest easy knowing that even though this is a new land, there would still be familiar guideposts. I would always try my best to always use my quirk responsibly, sir! As well as the Law!

The last thing that I recall sir was the Joint Training Battle with Class B! Is there a particular reason why you would be asking what was the last thing that I can recall?

[ This was not the most ideal situation in which to realize one of your friends is suddenly here, but it's happening anyway. Izuku nearly drops the bag of groceries in his arms when he spots this going on and his eyes widen instantly before hurrying over. ]

Iida! Be careful! You could hurt them if you continue on like this.

[ It's not so much chastising as it is worried for the both of them as he's sure that his fellow classmate had absolutely no ill will behind what he's unintentionally doing. ]

[Tenya was just about to bring his hand down in a swift and rather curt sweep of his arm. Lucky enough, it was Midoriya's voice that prevented an accident.]

[There was a rather loud sounding squeal of someone hitting the breaks, and Tenya lowered his arm in surprise.]

[Upon hearing the booming telepathic message, Momo winces. Only one person she knows has such a resounding voice and that level of verbosity. Still, despite the small sigh she lets out, there's an amused smile on her face before she replies.]

I'm sure with such a powerful– [Read: loud] –message, you'd undoubtedly have almost everyone responding to you now. [A light chuckle.] Please remember to pace yourself, class president.

[Oh! Another familiar voice~! Well this is good! That means that his message has done it's intended purpose and had grabbed people's attention!]

Yaoyorozu-san! I am glad to hear your voice! I was not quite sure how to properly use this amulet so I just wanted to make sure it worked correctly. This is a rather fascinating trinket isn't it? This could be rather effective if properly used!

[ Oh, lord. Todoroki is pretty much used to how Iida will deliver his words at times, even if admittedly it can be a little bit much, but this is definitely not the same. He'll probably even be able to feel the way Todoroki is wincing through the telepathic link. ]
