It had become to him rather quickly that Gawain was certainly happy to have some version of his king around, but Arthur hadn't expected him to have grown attached. Gawain had his own king, his own uncle (aunt?) and of course he could never replace her, nor would he want to, so Arthur had thought their connection would be less than as strong as that which they would have with each other's counterparts.
To find that Gawain seems not to mind that they aren't actually from the same world any more than Arthur himself does is... comforting.
He gives his nephew a soft smile and claps a hand on his shoulder reassuringly. It brings him great joy to be able to bond with one of his knights again. He might not say so outright, but it's hard to miss. ]
