He doubts she ever took that form after faking her shattering, given that she did not want to look back.
But that made this more stressful at the same time! How does he explain anything to a version of her who's so far removed from his existence? He doesn't know, but he's started talking to her now, and now he has to keep this conversation going, somehow.
"Oh, um, my mistake!" he says with a forced smile, and without actually looking directly at her. "It's okay, I- I know my mom's not here. And I'm not so little actually! So, it's all fine." Nothing is fine.
