He can't even call his feelings toward a stranger 'trust' so much as he trusts himself to help her out if there's a need. However, if Nike is as capable as she claims, Ash realizes she'll be more of an assist than anyone he's worked with.

After pausing at the mouth, Ash steps inside. Though he'd given her a list of his skills, he immediately displays another as the cave swallows all light: he shines. Or, more accurately, he projects a light that gives him, and her, the ability to see, even in the thick darkness. This allows him to move with his hands free. ]
