He'd wanted to be nothing more like that, some easy persona to add to the role he'd put himself in. Fit well with Reaper, made it believable that he was some murderous maniac on the lose that Talon had loyal to them. The easiest thing to play, and almost played up the dramatics enough that some wouldn't take him seriously, look the other way and not watch him too closely.
Better that no one had hope for him, but hell if he hadn't fallen in to that trap of hope here. Too many people wanting him to have it, letting a dead man out of a grave he'd kept piling more and more rubble over in his own effort to bury it down deep.
"You don't know a damn thing about me, especially now. You don't get to talk like that," he'd done this to himself.
The slap did little more than startle him for a moment, brows knitted together and the result was he was actually looking at 76. Lips twisted in to a frown. "News flash, but shit here doesn't affect a damn thing back home. You leave and go back like nothing ever happened, no memories of shit here. Get fucking used to it." Already moving forward with the aim of shoving 76 aside so he could go—
But he stopped when that elbow had managed to shove in to the other's side at least.
"None of your business, is it?" Yes. Gabriel had never really stopped caring, maybe wished he had after a while. Just had been buried with the rest of him. Only to be dug up because... they had tried to rebuild that friendship, and had managed for the most part.
