To be honest, she's a little afraid of the idea that the birds' emotions might be able to affect things the way hers can. Or maybe the birds can be hurt or manipulated with emotional responses. Not that Kairi wants to hurt them, but if it's true, that's something they will need to be cautious of, too.
"If they do try to land on us, I'll just make sure to be the more appealing perch," she adds on, smiling at Xion. Kairi doesn't mind being a bird perch, as long as they don't decide to start pecking at her.
